OVERVIEW
1835 Creative Studios (Rebranded to CoPlace in 2023) is a cultural hub located in the Sherman Heights neighborhood of San Diego, dedicated to providing community members with affordable spaces to work from and meet for creative events. Our task was to design lighting for the outdoor meeting area that was controllable in a two zone configuration with an additional accent lighting piece.
CHALLENGE
1835 Creative Studios wanted to transform their outdoor pergola into a more dynamic gathering space with a flexible lighting system that could shift with the mood of the environment. The challenge was to create an installation that balanced atmosphere, usability, and control, allowing the space to move seamlessly between functional lighting and immersive color experiences.
WHAT WE DID
We designed and installed a two-zone controllable LED lighting system tailored to the pergola structure. Beginning with an approved visual render, we translated the concept into a custom installation with independently controlled lighting zones and an iPad-based interface, giving the studio the ability to adjust color, intensity, and ambiance in real time.
