OVERVIEW

A T-shirt design inspired by 1970s Japanese psychedelic rock posters, reinterpreting Opisthokonta as a shared lineage between fungi and humans—where visual language meets evolutionary proximity.

CHALLENGE

To translate the scientific concept of Opisthokonta / the shared evolutionary lineage between fungi and humans / into a visual system that could live on a wearable object. The challenge was to balance scientific grounding with the expressive language of 1970s Japanese psychedelic rock poster design, without losing either clarity or cultural resonance.

WHAT WE DID

We developed a T-shirt design that merges evolutionary biology with graphic design language, using Opisthokonta as the conceptual core. Drawing from 1970s Japanese psychedelic poster aesthetics, we built a visual system that reflects the shared genetic proximity of fungi and humans, translating scientific relationship into a wearable design artifact.
